Research interest

My research interest is to enhance the understanding of morphodynamic evolution of coastal systems applying numerical models. During my career, I have simulated a wide range of coastal environments (estuaries, inlet/basin, barrier islands, beach/dune etc.) in Sri Lanka, the Netherlands, UK and Germany using different boundary forcing scenarios (extreme events, climate change and anthropogenic impacts etc.).

 

Presently, I work on the ‘MoDECS’ project as the Principal Investigator (‘Eigene Stelle’) funded by the German Research Foundation (DFG). This project investigates beach/dune evolution considering the impacts of the adjacent morphological elements in three diverse beach/dune systems; Hütelmoor (Baltic Sea), Norderney (North Sea), and Sefton coast (Liverpool, UK).
